Galway Hooker has crafted a reputation as innovators and taste-makers – we like to do things differently, and we love those who do likewise. That’s why we were proud to collaborate with the immensely talented Cathy Hughes on the artwork for our 2024 limited-edition bottles.
Cathy’s striking and unmistakable style brought our seasonal releases to life, transforming each bottle into a true canvas. Her artwork formed the visual identity of our limited-edition drops throughout the year.
ABOUT CATHY HUGHES
The late Irish artist Cathy Hughes, a native of the West of Ireland, created a distinctive abstract mixed-media style that drew on Irish textiles, Aran knitwear, antique maps, and objets d’art from the Wild Atlantic Sea. Deeply inspired by the landscapes around her, Cathy lived in Salthill by Galway Bay, where much of her work took shape. Her artistry, creativity, and connection to place continue to inspire and leave a lasting impression.

If you know Galway Hooker, you’ll know that we love thinking outside the box when it comes to brewing. Fresh ideas are central to who we are – inspired by the sea to be bold, adventurous, and ever-evolving. That spirit is reflected in our seasonal beers, each crafted to deliver its own distinctive flavour and experience.
Collaborating with Cathy Hughes on our 2024 bottles felt like a natural extension of this ethos. Her artwork captured the same sense of movement, texture, and story that defines our beers.
Wild Sea Swimmers – This 7% Baltic Porter is the perfect way to warm yourself after a dip in the ocean, but enjoyable no matter how you’re spending your time.
Galway Girl – A 5.2% Hazy IPA, this seasonal brew has tropical, citrus, and pine notes you’re sure to love.
