Welcome to our Blog Irish Stout

and night outstretches day

Brewers tend to dust off the recipe books and reach for the warmth of dark roasted malts. On the face of it, there doesn’t seem to be any real logic to the idea that darker beers are somehow “warmer” than their paler cousins.

Darker beers usually contain slighter higher carbohydrate levels and perhaps that is the reason our primordial brains seek out this additional nutrition at a time when food was historically hard to come by. Whatever the reason, there is no doubt that stouts and darker ales become more popular at the expense of paler lagers and ciders during the winter period.

Our stout is produced throughout the so we are looking forward to seeing it come front of stage again to show off its wonderful coffee and chocolate flavours. We are also in talks with some other Galway food producers about a special collaboration brew for the winter. More to come on that later!!
